Genesis Juice Corporation is a Eugene-based producer of fruit and vegetable juices for sale to consumers in the Pacific Northwest. It was initially incorporated as a worker-owned and operated cooperative in 1977. This alternative business model worked particularly well as a worker-owned business empowering workers to optimize their management of the business by encouraging greater productivity and responsibility. The company uses organically grown produce, when available, and refillable glass bottles. In July 7, 2005, the cooperative was converted into a corporation business model.
Genesis Juice saw the need for the search of new technologies to pasteurization. In the middle of April of ’04, an agreement was reached with Ohio State University to conduct and validate cooperative research effort on Genesis’ juices using a proprietary non-thermal processing technology, in order to protect the heat liable nutrients. In turn, such development is viewed as the catalyst to re-launch the Genesis brand of juices, as it preserves the company’s original reason for existing “the products we manufacture in the form of cold-pasteurized juices are an investment in our consumers’ health!”
